Re: Is this tribe thoroughly dead?
Wed, January 30, 2008 - 1:48 AMhey hey...
i still look to see if there is new posts now and then... but i'm pregnant and my mind works in a different way now... i dont really think about the past as much, i think that since i joined this tribe i've done a lot of healing.... being able to share with people who get it has been amazing for me, and reading all of your stories....
and now i'm focusing my thoughts on the way society is and what i can do about it. i live in a very different world, i live in the sticks where there are more healthy hippie roots type people than not.... where its normal to give birth at home and smoke a bit of herb when you're pregnant... grow most of your own veggies and some herb
i am seeing that i live in a bubble... not that i am unaware of what happens in the world.... but i am safe here....
i want to make the whole earth a part (though i understand there will be variations of the 'good life') of my pagan, non commercial holiday celebrating, healthy lifestyle, open minded, no cable tv, home school your children kind of community...
i am seeing, in a new way, that the world outside my bubble is needing help and i dont know how to make people see that it is easy to just love.
i want to save the world before this child is born.., i want it to be a better place for him/her to grow up.
i want people to share.
no one should be hungry.
no one school be rich.
microwaves? fast food? oil? war? unnatural body care products? petrol based 'vasaline'? disposable daipers? babies with no momma to love them... but a system that makes it too expensive to adopt? vaccines that do damage? baby jumpers, cribs, pacifiers, playpens, tv, video games, plastic toys.... hun? so unnecessary!! the 'i want' mentality... the 'i need' mentality. the materialistic consumer lifestyle... i am so separate from it... and everyone i know is too... to different degrees of course... and i sometimes forget that walmart is out there...
i think a lot...
it makes me see that all this waiting for jesus stuff is an easy way out... 'he'll come back and fix everything!'
i dont think that gonna happen.
WE are here. its up to us. but what can we do if we continue to be in divide ??
i wish the whole earth could be healed. we have to stop our wanting, our consuming if this is going to happen.
thats my rant.

^that is a 20 min video, worth your time...
'Zeitgeist' documentary, as ex jws you all will be really interested in this one... you can try to rent it... some places in the states wont carry it in their stores, if you can not find it, go to zeitgeistmovie.com/ you can watch it there or go to the google movie
sorry for my rant. every time this child moves even a little i am more and more passionate in my desire to save the world... -

Re: Is this tribe thoroughly dead?
Wed, January 30, 2008 - 2:20 AMlots of ideas. i wont dare try to write 'em all
i think it all starts with staying true to what you learn. when one learns plastic bags are lame... go buy cloth bags and use them.
when one begins to understand why he or she should buy organic... try to do so...
i think its super important to feel good about what you CAN do. i know a few people who dont buy organic because its not affordable...
pick the things that may not cost you cash... though bringing bags or your own coffee cup can be difficult to get used to, that is a great way to get things moving.
in my town we bitched enough and now you can not get plastic bags at the grocery store... there are bio bags which you can put in your compost bucket and they'll decompose... and you're charged 25 cents each, or you bring your own bags, they even have biodegradable straws when you get a bio to go cup! every coffee place changes you 25 cents for a cup...
we have to show that there is a desire for these things or 'they' wont ever make the switch.

Wow, bio bags and straws? That's awesome. I live a in a complete hippie town, and we don't even have those yet. That's awesome.
As far as this tribe, I think there's just a lull for now. I can't think of anything to post, but I haven't lost interest in it. I've been busy working and being fighting the snow to get to work everyday. AND been planning my upcoming wedding, which is very exciting.
Much love to all you guys in your busy lives!! :) Hope all is well. -

Re: Is this tribe thoroughly dead?
Wed, January 30, 2008 - 9:55 AMOne thing, as far as coffee and straws goes. Put your sugar in BEFORE you por, thus eliminating the need to stir, the coffee does it for you and you don't need to use a straw/stick/spoon. -

Re: Is this tribe thoroughly dead?
Wed, January 30, 2008 - 1:12 PMthats what i always do with my tea...
but what i meant by 'straw' is actual sipping straws... if you buy a fresh pressed juice you get a bio straw. they're made from corn... somehow...
as for stir sticks, no one in town has those. every coffee shop actually has spoons; a cup for the clean and a cup for the used...

Sat, February 2, 2008 - 1:40 PMI am here and still on my journey of healing... I have been writing a draft of a letter I want to send to my parents.
Some of us have Facebooks so we communicate that way. ... it would have been Tracker's birthday today. R.I.P friend. -

Re: Is this tribe thoroughly dead?
Mon, February 4, 2008 - 9:39 AMWow... I haven't been on tribe in forever.... facebook and myspace are now the gardens I have been playing in.... -
-
Re: Is this tribe thoroughly dead?
Mon, February 4, 2008 - 6:07 PMI think tribe is superior to myspace......and I can't bring myself to open up a facebook account. What is so good about facebook? -
-
Re: Is this tribe thoroughly dead?
Mon, February 4, 2008 - 6:46 PMIf you have a lot of friends on facebook, it's cool. And is WAAAAAAY better than myspace.
I think facebook is good for keeping in touch with folks, but unlike tribe you don't really meet people you don't already know on facebook.
In that way, I love tribe, because I've been able to meet incredible people especially out of this tribe, that I wouldn't otherwise.
There is also an ex-jw group on facebook, but it's pretty dormant. :(
(Landa!!! - I'm looking for you on facebook! )
Anyone else that's on facebook is welcome to add me. :)

Re: Is this tribe thoroughly dead?
Wed, February 6, 2008 - 9:24 PMfacebook is good for the news feed, keeps you informed... lets you know what your friends are up to in a really easy way.
but tribe has great groups and i feel better about it... i met such amazing people here, i have so much healing.
its not so easy to meet people on facebook.... but i sure do spend more time on the book of faces with beautiful ladies like mandy and kelli... it's easier to stay in touch....
