The year I turned 9 or 10 my father said happy birthday to me in the morning, just when I got up....
I remember just looking at him.
I asked why he said that and he told me that its okay to acknowledge someone's day of birth, he then told me what the day of my birth was like for him. He ended his story with a smile saying 'I am glad that you were born'.
I thanked him for creating me, that was that.
He didn't say it again until my last birthday, I had a big dinner party and while my close friends and I were sitting around the table eating cheesecake my father called (I stared at the call display on my cell phone and told my friends it was my dad, they know he's a JW)
He told me he was glad I was born and he hoped I have a happy birthday . I held the phone out and my friends yelled out things like 'we love your little girl' and 'thanks for making Autumn'.
That was a good moment with my Dad, he overcame and went out of his way to make me smile... now we dont talk at all.
Funny how things change so quickly.
